The Role
Reporting to the NPD Manager the Specifications Technologist will be responsible for compiling and maintaining retailer specifications.The portfolio of retailers is extensive and will involve working with many different retailer systems. This complex position will also involve helping to prepare all finished product specifications from development recipes, on both retail specification systems and internal systems.Specifically:
- Requesting raw material specifications.
- Maintaining raw material specifications library on retailers specification systems
- Completing technical queries by researching relevant sources of information
- To fully understand the retailer brand standards and policies i.e. salt targets
- To keep up to date on all Food legislation and food scare alerts
- Checking artwork to final copy
Essential to this role
- Previous experience within food processing / manufacture
- Knowledge and understanding of HARA and HACCP
- Awareness of nutrition, food tolerance, allergens.
- Good communication, organisation and administration skills
- A food related qualification
