QA Compliance Controller – £Competitive – 884493 – Hybrid
A detail-oriented QA Compliance Controller to oversee quality assurance and compliance throughout the entire product lifecycle, with a strong focus on continuous improvement initiatives. This role will manage the sampling process, quality control, and specification documentation for both new product development (NPD) and ongoing product changes. You will support the product teams in ensuring that all product modifications—whether for new launches, improvements, or updates—meet quality standards and regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will develop and maintain gold standard sister boards to guide production in our factories, ensuring consistency in product quality across all stages.
The Role:
- Product Lifecycle Sampling Management: Manage the end-to-end sampling process for both new product developments and any continuous improvements or changes. Oversee sample requests, production, and delivery, ensuring they meet quality expectations and timelines across the entire product lifecycle. Track, document, and report on the status of samples, ensuring alignment with project goals and production schedules.
- Continuous Improvement & Product Change Management: Collaborate with the Product Development and QA teams to manage quality and compliance checks for ongoing product changes, ensuring that any improvements or modifications meet company and industry standards. Conduct reviews of existing products to identify opportunities for enhancements in design, materials, or production methods. Support the implementation of improvements or changes, working with suppliers and factories to manage product revisions efficiently.
- Sample Quality Control: Perform rigorous quality checks on all product samples, whether for new developments or continuous improvements, ensuring they adhere to established specifications and quality standards. Identify and resolve any defects or inconsistencies in product samples before they are approved for production. Enforce strict quality control measures during both sample production and mass production to maintain the highest product standards.
- Specification Documentation: Create, update, and maintain detailed product specification documents for new products, as well as any ongoing modifications to existing lines. Ensure that all product documentation related to materials, finishes, and dimensions is accurate and up-to-date throughout the product lifecycle. Provide clear specification guidelines to internal teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure understanding of all product requirements.
- Support for NPD & Continuous Improvement Teams: Assist both the New Product Development and Continuous Improvement teams in moving samples through the development and improvement processes, acting as a liaison between departments, suppliers, and factories. Offer technical support and guidance on sampling processes, specifications, and quality standards to ensure alignment with business objectives. Provide feedback on sample designs and product changes, ensuring that all adjustments contribute to enhanced product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Gold Standard Development & Maintenance: Develop and maintain “gold standard” sister boards for factories, ensuring consistent quality in texture, color, and finish across all product lines, from new developments to product improvements. Coordinate with manufacturing teams and factories to ensure that all gold standard samples are reflected accurately in mass production. Periodically review and update gold standard boards to reflect any improvements or changes in product design or production processes.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that all product samples, including new products and modifications, comply with relevant industry regulations and quality standards throughout the product lifecycle. Prepare detailed compliance reports, documenting deviations from standards and outlining corrective actions. Work closely with the compliance team to address potential regulatory issues at any stage of the product lifecycle.
The Person:
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance, compliance, or product development role.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of product lifecycle management and quality control standards.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in quality control systems, product specifications, and sampling processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, NetSuite ERP understanding is advantageous.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to detect and resolve product defects or quality issues.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, external suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot product issues and recommend viable solutions.
- Organizational Skills: Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple sampling requests and product changes concurrently.
- Education: Advantageous: A Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Product Development, or a related field such as ISO 9001is preferred.
