Process Technologist – 883914 – Up to £32000

 

The Role:

 

 

Working as an integral member of the site development team you will support the Product Development Process from customer approval to project completion and launch.   As part of this process a key remit is to ensure that the company follows an NPD process, to ensure launches are kept within company objectives and products are launched to a high standard and on time.

You will be responsible for supporting the development chefs, development technologist, operations and commercial teams from the initial concept meetings through to factory handover and launch.  This may involve customer meetings both on and off site, but it does involve attending all trials, pre productions and 1st production launches.  It also involves ensuring the product post launch is still being manufactured to the criteria set.

You will be involved in cost reduction projects and product re formulations / improvements plans.

  • Ensuring that the NPD team work to the prescribed processing parameters in production, problem solving where necessary, and ensuring the best quality products are delivered to customers.
  • For current products, gathering all the pickup, run rate, waste and weight information from factory trials and feeding this back into the business so data can be updated.  This may include time and motion studies.
  • Day to day management of the recipe system and manufacturing instructions, ensuring “best in class” instructions are written, and all required amends to existing recipes and worksheets are made.
  • Assisting the development technologist in the arrangement of factory trials, ensuring raw materials are delivered and checked in a timely manner, that paperwork is raised, equipment is prepared, and data is gathered.
  • Ensure that all product produced from trials is documented, approved and stored in an easy to find manner.
  • Ensure that the factory processes proposed are robust and repeatable, and that manufacturing parameters are fully understood and complied with from kitchen concept through to factory launch, advising the development chefs, operations and commercial team of manufacturing concerns / capex requirements.

 

 

 

 

The Person:

 

·         Degree qualified – ideally a BSc in a Food related subject or relevant industry experience within a similar role

·         Level 3 Food Safety desirable

·         Level 3 HACCP desirable

·         Working knowledge of food manufacture processing equipment

·         Working knowledge of raw materials functionality

·         Working knowledge of retailer requirements on raw materials

  • Computer literate

The role will require flexibility in approach as you will be required to work closely with commercial, technical, engineering, purchasing and operations production.

You will need a strong working knowledge on SI, raising codes, worksheets, inputting recipes, and are the site lead on outer case labels.  You also need to ensure any customer paperwork relating to outer case label is completed and signed off prior to launch.
