Packaging and Consumables Buyer – 884033 – £30,000 – £35,000

A vacancy has arisen for a Packaging and Consumables Buyer.  The role is responsible for the purchasing of packaging and consumables across all product categories, multi-site. This position will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

The Role:

  • Managing and overseeing the procurement of all packaging materials, along with all consumables, with direct liaison with all manufacturing sites under the company’s portfolio.
  • Purchasing packaging materials from pre-determined nominated suppliers.
  • Purchasing packaging materials from customer approved suppliers, negotiating ‘best price’ at all times and recording all cost reductions achieved, and indeed keeping track of all cost increases where applicable.
  • Overseeing the checking of orders, prices and relevant documentation, ensuring any discrepancies are rectified for the a/c department.
  • Managing material specifications; working with both operations and clients to ensure correct specifications are sourced, maintained and developed in line with requirements.
  • Liaising with departmental managers regarding the purchasing of any items, in line with the changing sales demands.
  • Ensuring stocks are at the required level (minimum / maximum stock holding thresholds).
  • Carrying out regular stock control audits.
  • Complete monthly stock reconciliation to reflect computerised system.
  • Document any discrepancies and report to Supply Chain Manager and Financial Controller.
  • Ensure data on system is correct (stocks and prices).
  • Maintain KPI data on daily basis.
  • Establish multi source buying avenues, to reduce single point redundancy for supply.

The Person:

  • Able to illustrate a proven track record in negotiating / purchasing and managing stock.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong focus on results, and strong people management skills.
  • Demonstrates strong IT skills and proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Committed to working within the Company Values.
  • A team player with high level of dedication but confident to work independently.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines.
